Local couple win nationwide competition from South Lakeland Parks
Local holiday park operator South Lakeland Parks this month handed over the keys to a luxury holiday home at one of their holiday parks following a major competition in national newspaper the Mirror.
South Lakeland Parks, which operates nine holiday parks in the Lake District, Ribble Valley and Morecambe Bay, ran a month long competition in the Daily Mirror and its associated titles (Sunday Mirror, We Love Telly and Celebs) to offer one lucky reader an opportunity to win a holiday home for life.
The prize worth in the region of £40,000 meant that one person could own a fantastic six berth ABI Vista Platinum caravan, which they were then able to locate in one of South Lakeland Parks’ Morecambe Bay sites.
The lucky couple Ian and Jackie Gow from Workington, Cumbria were selected at random from over 17,000 entries in what the Mirror described at their ‘Highest responding competition of 2010’. Having chosen Ocean Edge park near Heysham which overlooks the Irish sea, the couple recently picked up the keys of their new home.

Nigel Wimpenny of South Lakeland Parks commented: “We were thrilled with the number of entries into the competition which showed there is a real interest in holiday homes in the UK and in particular in the North-West of England. We feel this is a positive boost for South Lakeland Parks and the amount of publicity we received in the paper over a period of four weeks is a magnificent plug for the region.
He continues: “Our winners are a fantastic couple and with them being locals its all the more exciting for us. Mr and Mrs Gow plan to spend their holidays at the park, bringing with them children and grandchildren. In terms of their family and plan for use of the caravan we could not have wished for a more worthy winner.”
