The Lake District is an area of outstanding natural beauty and attracts many visitors each year. In view of this South Lakeland Parks is a member of Cumbrian conservation charity Nurture Lakeland.
Nurture Lakeland works throughout the Lake District and Cumbria to fundraise for conservation and to promote environmentally sustainable tourism. The Lake District and Cumbria have some of the most stunning landscapes in the world. However our environment can be surprisingly fragile. By working with local businesses and visitors to the area, promoting sustainable tourism and fundraising for conservation, Nurture Lakeland works to protect wildlife, landscape and environment, improve access and support local communities.
As members of Nurture Lakeland and with the help of our visitors South Lakeland Parks raises money for local conservation work. We are also working with Nurture Lakeland to improve our own environmental practices. Help look after the places you love and discover what goes on behind the scenes to keep our special landscapes beautiful by joining us at www.nurturelakeland.org The Tourism Conservation Partnership supports conservation projects including repairing eroded footpaths, riverbanks and helping to protect rare species. South Lakeland Parks are currently helping to sponsor such projects.
We are therefore asking all our guests to make a personal donation if you would like to help the Lake District stay beautiful. Upon booking your holiday you will be asked if you would like to make a donation of £1 to go directly to the projects we are sponsoring.
All of our Lake District parks have been awarded the David Bellamy Gold Award for our commitment and demonstration of our concern for the environment. Our Lake District Parks are located in protected woodland and countryside areas. Our guests can enjoy the natural surroundings where birds, animals and plant life can be seen on our parks.
We have raised a staggering amount for projects with Nurture Lakeland. We are now supporting 'Love Your Lakes' campaign. This project aims to improve the water quality of Lake Windermere.
