South Lakeland Parks Goes Eco With The Introduction Of New Duck Food
South Lakeland Parks stunning Fallbarrow Park on the shores of Windermere has introduced a new eco measure in the form of floating duck food in recyclable cartons.
The location of the site means it attracts an abundance of ducks which are popular with the guests, especially children. Thanks to these new cartons, which can be purchased on site for just 99p, visitors can feed the ducks with this special mixture which easily floats for the birds to see.
After feeding the ducks visitors are encouraged to return the cartons for recycling.
This charitable move will allow South Lakeland Parks to give all the profit from the sales of the cartons to the Cumbria Wildlife Fund, an organisation dedicated to the conservation of the wildlife and wild places in Cumbria.

Fallbarrow’s manager, Mark Hans-Brooker commented: “We frequently receive requests from guests for duck and bird feed and this idea offers the best of everything. Not only are we able to provide the guests this additional service but we are thrilled to be helping both the environment and a fantastic local charity. Each year we try and come up with new ways of helping protect the environment and make a stay at Fallbarrow more pleasurable for our guests and this one is a real winner!”
Other schemes also being launched at Fallbarrow this summer include butterfly feeding stations which are located in the flower beds to encourage the pretty insects to fly around the reception area.
Fallbarrow is one of nine holiday parks operated by South Lakeland Parks, with locations in the Lake District, Morecambe Bay and Ribble Valley.
