South Lakeland Parks Becomes First UK Holiday Park To Introduce Satellite Fibre Optic Aerials
South Lakeland Parks flagship site, White Cross Bay, near Ambleside has become the UK’s first holiday park to introduce state-of-the-art fibre optic digital TV supply on its park.
This modern distribution system offers a new and highly sophisticated method of providing digital and satellite television to all participating lodges and caravans on the site, thus avoiding unsightly satellite dishes.
The system allows end users to receive all the services and programming offered by Sky and Freeview in the same way an aerial or satellite dish would work. However, rather than unsightly parts being attached to the lodge or caravan the service is delivered via special underground fibre optic cables.
The new system will provide free to view channels immediately, while to receive other channels, lodge and caravan owners must purchase a satellite box and card for use within their individual unit.
Nigel Wimpenny, MD of South Lakeland Parks expressed his delight at the new system, “This is a great service for our owners and holiday makers and will prevent unsightly views around the park which occur where owners opt to install their own satellite dishes. Furthermore as the cable has no chance of water ingress this is a huge bonus for the Lake District as we do not have to worry about damage or rust from the rain or lake. We have been working towards offering our clients the best services and facilities of any park throughout the UK and this brings us another step closer. Once the initial settling in process is over we will be looking to extend this across all of our nine parks. There is also an option to upgrade the system to offer broadband into each and every unit which is something we will be looking into during 2010.”
South Lakeland Parks is the north-west’s largest holiday park operator with nine sites located throughout the Lake District, Morecambe Bay and Ribble Valley.
White Cross Bay is the company’s flagship site offering the highest quality lodges and caravans for sale or hire. Set in an enviable location of the north eastern shores of Windermere, White Cross Bay is ideal for visitors wanting to make the most of the Lake District with walking and cycling from the doorstep and the popular towns of Ambleside and Windermere being just five minutes by car.
Having recently undergone a massive £2m refurbishment the park now offers a stunning range of new facilities including a new restaurant and bar with outdoor beer garden, new children’s play area and multi use sports facilities. Furthermore a new range of hire lodges offers the highest quality chic, stylish and spacious holiday accommodation.
