South Lakeland Parks Steps In To Save Morecambe Bay's Kite Festival
Local holiday park operator, South Lakeland Parks, has come to the rescue of Morecambe Bay’s Kite Festival by offering a donation to fund this summer’s event.

The running of the event had been thrown into jeopardy due to a lack of funding, potentially leaving the seaside town with a gap in its summer calendar.
However, South Lakeland Parks has jumped in at the 11th hour to offer the funding that will ensure the event can go ahead as planned.
Nigel Wimpenny, Managing Director of South Lakeland Parks commented: “The Kite Festival is one of my personal favourites and it’s also popular with guests who stay in our holiday parks in Morecambe and Heysham. When we discovered that the event may not be able to run this summer we immediately offered our support. It was the most obvious thing to do.”
More Music’s Community Development Director, Kathryn MacDonald said: “We are so grateful for the offer of support from South Lakeland Parks for the Catch The Wind Kite Festival and so excited at the partnership. We think it is fantastic to have the endorsement of such a reputable and well known firm as South Lakeland Parks and see us working together to help with the regeneration of the Morecambe area”
Thanks to the funding the event can now go ahead as planned on Sunday 20 June 2010. South Lakeland Parks is one of the north-west’s leading holiday park operators with nine parks in the region, four of which are located in and around Morecambe Bay.
Regent Park in Morecambe’s West End and Ocean Edge Park in the historic village of Heysham are the two parks which will act as the main sponsors. Visitors to the Kite Festival will have an opportunity to take a look around one of South Lakeland Park’s caravan holiday homes which will be located on the Promenade.
