Todber Park Scoops Top Conservation Award
Well kept landscapes that encourage and nurture plant and animal life has lead Todber Park in the Ribble Valley, to achieve the highest possible accolade from the David Bellamy Conservation Awards.
The picturesque holiday park owned by South Lakeland Parks has scooped gold in the prestigious 2011 David Bellamy Conservation Awards Scheme which recognises and honours tourism businesses which protect and enhance the natural world.
Set within the Ribble Valley the park enjoys an enviable position with views towards the famous three peaks of Yorkshire so it was only natural that in such an amazing environment the Park would aim for such an award.
Caroline Farrer, Marketing Manager for the group commented: “Almost all of our parks have now achieved this accolade and we’re delighted that Todber has followed suit. As a company we support a number of environmental campaigns as we recognise the importance of protecting the surroundings for future generations. South Lakeland Parks is a company that prides itself on our green credentials and believe that this is another positive step in ensuring that we offer sustainable holidays.”
A long list of environmental initiatives at the park helped it win Professor Bellamy's top accolade, including:
Selling local produce in the on-site shop
Extensive recycling facilities
Monitoring of energy consumption to ensure it is as effective as possible
Planting schemes introduced to add to the conservation value of the park. Additionally the park only plants native species
Introduction of flower tubs to encourage insects and bees to the park
Wildlife interpretation boards to inform and educate guests about the local flora and fauna
Todber Park offers year round holiday accommodation for both sale and hire. The park features a range of luxury lodges and caravans which can sleep between four and six guests.
